Film Independent’s Los Angeles Film Festival, presented by the Los Angeles Times, showcases the best of American and international cinema. The 2014 Festival runs from June 10-19 in the vibrant, burgeoning independent arts community of downtown Los Angeles.
The Festival’s home at L.A. LIVE is reflective of its continued growth and efforts to embrace the cultural diversity of Los Angeles. Screenings and events will be held at several locations, including the Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE Stadium 14, Arts Brookfield at FIGat7th Plaza, the GRAMMY Museum, LACMA and California Plaza.
About the Film Festival
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Los Angeles Film Festival. Over the past two decades, we have seen the city — and this festival — evolve, grow and embrace a leading role in the independent film industry. From our humble beginnings of one theater and 5,700 attendees to today’s sprawling list of events and venues that attract more than 92,000 attendees, we continue to provide culturally rich and diverse programming like the community we serve.
The Festival screens nearly 200 narrative and documentary feature films, short films and music videos. From VIP galas to celebrity-studded premieres, the Los Angeles Film Festival highlights cinema from every corner of the globe.
In addition, the Festival presents a variety of panels, educational seminars, live music performances and free outdoor screenings. Kicking off the festivities is our exclusive and intimate Filmmaker Retreat, hosted by the Festival’s Guest Director. Past Guest Directors have included Kathryn Bigelow, Sydney Pollock, Curtis Hanson and George Lucas.
